VW Black Magic (LC9Z) is a deep, rich black metallic OEM colour, known for its subtle metallic flake and premium glossy appearance. It delivers a sleek, high-end finish commonly found across Volkswagen models.

Application system
2-stage system:
- Basecoat (colour)
- Clearcoat (gloss & protection)
Mixing & application
Basecoat:
- Mix 1:1 with thinners only
- Do not add hardener
Clearcoat:
- Mix 2:1 with hardener
- Add 10β20% thinners if needed
Spraying:
- Apply 2β3 coats of basecoat (allow 5β10 minutes between coats)
- Finish with 2 coats of clearcoat for gloss and durability
Surface preparation
- Sand surface (P320βP400 for preparation, P600βP800 for finishing)
- Prime if needed, then sand smooth
- Clean thoroughly before painting
Finishing
After curing, polish using Presta polish to achieve a deep, high-gloss professional finish.
How to find your colour code
Colour code locations may vary depending on the vehicle manufacturer:
- Volkswagen: usually found in the boot near the spare wheel area
- Audi: commonly found in the boot or service book
- Other vehicles: may be located under the bonnet, door jamb, or service book
